The Principle of Proper Food
Combining
Perhaps you may have already come into contact with proper food combining. It is becoming more and more popular (and justifiably so). The importance of proper food combining has been proved as a result of intense research time and time again over the last eighty- five years. In fact, one of the first people who studied this subject is probably familiar to you. Does the name Ivan Pavlov ring a ben? In addition to his experiments on conditioned reflexes, Pavlov also did a great deal of study of proper food combining, and in 1902 he published a book entitled The Work of the Digestive Glands, wherein he revealed the basic fundamentals of proper food combining. Proper food combining works, and it works beautifully. There have been many studies done substantiating its value, most notably by Dr. Herbert M. Shelton, who from 1928 to 1981 had a school in San Antonio, Texas, where he compiled the most extensive research data available on the proper combinations of foods.
Dr. Shelton's work, backed up as long ago as 1924 in the Journal of the American Medical Association by Dr. Philip Norman, shows the effectiveness and validity of food combining as a science. If it is violated, a host of problems result, which are an enormous hindrance to the successful loss of weight. It stands to reason that if the appropriation cycle is encumbered in any way, then the cycles following will also suffer. NOTHING STREAMLINES THE APPROPRIATION CYCLE MORE THAN ADHERING TO THE PRJNCIPLES OF PROPER FOOD COMBINING.
How does proper food combining fit in with the loss of excess weight? How do you start your day? Do you jump out of bed with an incredible feeling of vitality, ready to charge into the day? Or do you drag yourself out of bed and gulp down some coffee to get the day going? Do you go through your day with a positive feeling of anticipation? Or are you thinking, Gee, I hope I can make it until Friday. At the end of the dayare you still full of energy? Are you looking forward to spending some time with your kids, your spouse, or your friends? Or, come evening, do you barely have enough energy to get dinner down and then collapse on the couch in front of the TV prior to passing out? The difference between these two types of days boils down to one crucial element: energy!
There's probably not a person reading this page right now who would not like to have more energy. It's like money. If I were to hand you a flfty-dollar bill, would you tear it up and throw it into the street? I doubt it. If you would not take a fifty-dollar bill and throw it away, would you do that to something far more important than money, your energy? You wouldn't knowingly, but unknowingly you may be doing that regularly. If you want to run, read, play, or do anything, you require energy. In fact if there is no energy in your body, it means that you are not alive. No energy, no life.
Everyone wants to have more energy. Guess what function of the human body demands more energy than any other function? The digestion of food! Isn't that interesting? Have you ever felt sleepy after a meal? Who hasn't? That happens because all energies are concentrated on taking care of the food in the system. The digestion of food takes more energy than running, swimming, or bike riding. In fact, there's nothing you can name that takes more energy than the digestion of food.
This energy is crucial for the all-important detoxification (elimination of toxic waste) of the body. If we can eliminate toxic waste from our bodies on a regular basis, we are going to lose weight on a regular basis, and not put that weight back on. It takes energy to eliminate, and the elimination cycle is of extreme importance. The body cannot eliminate toxic waste without your cooperation. The way we must assist the body is to supply it with readily available energy on a steady basis. This is the answer to being healthy and trim. It's having a sufficient amount of energy at the body' s disposal to take care of detoxification. If the digestion of food takes more energy than any other function of the body, where is it, do you think, that we are most likely to be able to free up some energy for use elsewhere? From our digestive tracts, of course.
Food combining is based on the discovery that certain combinations of food may be digested with greater ease and efficiency than others .The successful results obtained through the principles of food combining can be explained and substantiated by the facts of physiological chemistry, particularly the chemistry of digestion. Energy is the key, and nothing streamlines the process of digestion, which optimizes energy, more than proper food combining.
Food combining teaches this: THE HUMAN BODY IS NOT DESIGNED TO DIGEST MORE THAN ONE CONCENTRATED FOOD IN THE STOMACH AT THE SAME TIME. This is a very simple but significant statement. Remember what is meant by concentrated food: ANY FOOD THAT IS NOT A FRUIT AND IS NOT A VEGETABLE IS CONCENTRATED. Proper food combining merely states that because the human stomach is not capable of digesting more than one of these concentrated foods at a time, you should not eat more than one concen- trated food at a time. It's just that simple.
Every species of mammal has a specific type of digestive system biologically adapted to a particular type of food--from the lion, whose digestive tract is about twelve feet long, to the giraffe, whose digestive tract is about two hundred and eighty feet long! There are carnivorous, herbivorous, omnivorous, graminivorous and frugivorous animals on this planet. There is some argument as to what type of digestive system the human species possesses, but one thing is certain: Humans do not possess ALL these different types of digestive systems. However, we humans eat the diet of a lion, a giraffe, a pig, a horse, and an ape. And not only do we eat the different diets of all these animals, but we do so at the same meal! This places a tremendous burden on the digestive faculties, forces the creation of toxic waste in the system, and squanders a great deal of precious energy.
I wonder if you have ever eaten meat and potatoes together. Fish and rice? Chicken and noodles? Eggs and toast? Cheese and bread? Cereal and milk? You might be saying, "Hey, wait a second here, what else is left?"
Don't worry, there's plenty. What if I were to tell you that eating these particular combinations is not in your best interest and also insures that you will have neither the slim body nor the energy you want? In fact, regularly eating these particular combinations guarantees that you will never have the energy that you need. The cornerstone of weight loss is detoxification, and detoxification is entirely dependent upon energy. The improper combination of food in the stomach is exactly why we have an "energy crisis" in this country. It is also a contributing factor to why people in this country are dying at age fifty. Death means the body no longer has the energy to deal with its situation. And death at fifty is indefensible.
Nearly two thirds of the population are overweight. A great deal of that can be attributed to the fact that we eat foods haphazardly and indiscriminately combined. This deserves further explanation...

Kobe Bryant's New Diet!
Have you seen Kobe Bryant play recently? He is in his 17th season and people are amazed at his incredible and youthful performance. Is it his drive alone or is it his diet and nutrition? This is what I found when I researched this topic. I hope you guys enjoy!
The advancements in sports science and medicine, particularly understanding the nature of eating and avoiding certain foods, have aided Bryant in changing his diet. Whereas some athletes might go through their usual offseason routine even as they age, Vitti said the 16-year veteran changed his habits beforehand.
"Kobe never got to that point where he came in behind and had to figure it out," Vitti said. "He saw the future before the future came and he's already made the adjustment."
Part of that changed diet and those healthy eating tips come from Dr. Cate Shanahan, a team consultant who has her own practice in Napa Valley. Pasture-fed foods - pasture-grazed beef from a pasture-fed cow, eggs from a free-range chicken (not a cage chicken) - are just some of the main staples of Bryant's diet. Sugars, specifically anything with corn syrup, should be avoided, and the intake of carbohydrates has been scaled down, consumed in moderation.
"What happens is the athlete consumes one of these products high in carbohydrates and sugar, they get a spike of energy and feel really good," Vitti said. "Your body knows that, sends insulin and then they crash. As soon as they crash, they need another sugar fix, and they're yo-yoing up and down. If we get them off that stuff and get them into more of protein and the right kind of fats, then they'll have a higher level of energy without the lows or the dips."
More findings examine the ratio of high-density lipoproteins (HDL's) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL's), better known as "good" cholesterol and "bad" cholesterol, which can be monitored. The common thought was the ratio for of HDL's to be high and LDL's to be low. But according to Vitti, new findings are changing that perception.
"We're finding out now that a higher level of LDL's, which we thought was bad, doesn't necessarily mean it's bad," he continued, "because within that category, there are good LDL's and bad LDL's. Even though you might have an elevated level of LDL's, it might be the right kind of LDL's."
For example, eating fats, when they're the right kind of fats, can be packed with nutrients.
"We're finding out now that a higher level of LDL's, which we thought was bad, doesn't necessarily mean it's bad," he continued, "because within that category, there are good LDL's and bad LDL's. Even though you might have an elevated level of LDL's, it might be the right kind of LDL's."
For example, eating fats, when they're the right kind of fats, can be packed with nutrients.
"All this fat free stuff and all these things we've been doing has been the biggest proponent of it," Vitti said. "When they strip the fat, they strip all the nutrients with it. We don't necessarily want to stay away from fats, but it has to be the right kind of fat."
Vitti acknowledges they have created, not only for Bryant, but also all their players, food groups that are red, yellow and green. The traditional food pyramid is not what they're preaching to the players. In fact, it's the inverse.
"The current science reverses the pyramid," Vitti said. "The base of the pyramid is on the top. We're not telling them to just eat fat - it has to be the right kind of fat. Pasture-grazed beef and products from that; you can eat butter, but it has to be pasture-fed. Not pasteurized, pasture-fed. There's a big difference. Milk from a pasture-fed cow, cheese from a pasture-fed cow."
Altogether, the shift in dietary habits is one of the reasons why the five-time champion has performed at such an effective and efficient level this late into his career. No guard in NBA history has averaged over 15 points in his 17th season or later, but Bryant ranks second in the league in scoring at 29.2 points per game, while also shooting at a 46.5 percent clip (as of Jan. 24).
"What I've done really is just train really hard and watch my diet," Bryant said. "I think that's the thing that catches guys most. They don't do self-assessing. They feel like they can go out there and do some of the things that they did when they were younger and eat some of the things that they've been (eating) and not accept the fact that what you put in has an impact."

What cancer cells feed on:

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.
